Where Desert Meets Comfort

Each bungalow has been thoughtfully positioned to embrace the beauty of its surroundings, with private decks, sweeping desert views and architecture that blends naturally into the landscape.

Wake up to golden sunrises over the dunes, enjoy your morning coffee in complete tranquillity, and end the day beneath spectacular desert skies. Whether you're staying for adventure, relaxation or a romantic escape, Desert Breeze offers an experience that's as memorable as the scenery itself.

Rooted In The Desert

Inspired by the Namib

Desert Breeze takes its inspiration from one of the world's oldest deserts.

The distinctive basalt sculptures, the colours of the surrounding dunes and the unique architecture all celebrate the remarkable landscape that makes this part of Namibia unlike anywhere else on Earth.

One of our favourite symbols is the Toktokkie Beetle—a resilient little creature perfectly adapted to life in the Namib. Much like the beetle, Desert Breeze embraces the beauty, resilience and quiet character of the desert.

Garden

A Garden Alive with Nature

Our garden is a little oasis of its own, with more than 230 home-grown palm trees creating a lush and tranquil setting. Over the years, it has become a haven for an abundance of birdlife, making the garden as much a part of the experience as the rooms and spaces around it.

Among our most familiar visitors and by now, very much part of the family, is our much-loved flock of guinea fowl. Their unmistakable calls and entertaining antics have become a cherished part of everyday life here.

It is a place to slow down, listen to the birds, feel the breeze through the palms and simply enjoy a quieter side of Namibia.

The People Who Bring Namibia to Life

At the heart of our hospitality are our people. Many of our team members have been with us for years, bringing not only experience and dedication, but a deep connection to the communities and cultures that make Namibia so wonderfully diverse.

Representing different tribes, traditions and regions of our country, they are our link to the Namibia beyond our doors. Through their stories, their knowledge and the way they share their country with you, you discover Namibia through their eyes—personal, authentic and rich in perspective.

We take great pride in the diversity of our Namibian people. Your experience with us is shaped by them, and it is through their warmth, pride and individual stories that a little of the true spirit of Namibia becomes part of your journey.

Knut Hünecke

Art in the Desert

Art has always been an integral part of the spirit of Desert Breeze. Sculptor Knut Hünecke, an artistic collaborator and friend of owner and creator Danie Holloway, has helped shape the distinctive character of the outdoor spaces through his work.

Together, Danie and Knut have created an environment where sculpture and nature exist in quiet conversation. Many of Knut’s works are woven naturally into the gardens and open spaces, adding unexpected moments of beauty, curiosity and contemplation.

It is this creative collaboration that has helped transform Desert Breeze into the artistic haven it is today—a place where the landscape is not simply admired, but experienced through art.

Stunning view of red dunes! We stayed just one night here as part of our guided Ultimate Safaris tour of Namibia. Stunning views from the cottages and dining areas. Lodge set in a lovely garden. Cottage very spacious, clean, quiet and comfortable - best shower! Not within walking distance of city centre - though this did not bother us as we were in a guided vehicle. We enjoyed a late afternoon walk on the sand dunes in front of the lodge - an easy walk. The only meal we had here was breakfast (no other meals served here) and it was very good. Service good.

Consigliassimo

A true gem in Swakupmund Desert Breeze hotel was my highlight of Swakupmund to be honest. The hotel offered a beautiful room at the front row overlooking the sand dunes, consisting of a single space with large windows, living part with sofa and a fireplace, and a balcony attached to it. The bed was comfortable. Toilet and shower were separate and well spaced. Reception staff were friendly and apparently tours can be booked there. I only used their phone to make inquiries with my car rental company. Breakfast was good. Cars can be parked within the premises under large shades. Handy for when summer sets in. What is noteworthy is the exceptional quietness of the place at night.

What a find! A fabulous hotel. Excellent views towards the dunes. Specious rooms. Friendly and helpful staff. You can book a number of excursion right at the property (offered by external providers). Laundry service quick and well priced. Good breakfast. A true gem and a great value. We definitely would choose it again.

Sensationeller Ausblick mit mega leckerem Frühstück Mein Aufenthalt vom 2. April - 09.

We have appreciate the quiet of the place not too far from the center. Easy to park big car ( with tent on the roof)
